If you are a non-European company planning to sell appliances in the 25 European Union (EU) and/or three European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) countries, the CE Mark is a requirement. More European importers will not touch a product that does not carry the CE Mark since the liability risk can be as high as 70 million Euros should there be a problem that causes injury. MBX has the ability to act as your Authorized Representative to register your appliance in one or more member states, allowing it to carry the CE Mark, thus making it eligible for sale in all 28 countries covered under the EU and EFTA.
Corporate policy at many large and mid-size organizations in the U.S. requires all electrical products installed on-site to carry certification from Underwriters Laboratories (UL). MBX has a wealth of experience helping our customers obtain UL approval and can expedite the process for you if you choose. Since many software companies have little exposure to the process of obtaining UL approval, allowing MBX to handle it saves time and eliminates a learning curve internally that is of marginal value beyond this one project.
Beginning July 1, 2006, the RoHS Directive will take effect in Europe. This Directive bans the sale of electrical or electronic products that contain more than the allowable amount of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. MBX is well aware of the allowable levels of all chemicals and can design your appliance to meet the RoHS Directive. We will also help you obtain the necessary certification to sell these products throughout the European Union.
